Independent MPs supporting independent brewing

This week, the Federal Parliament are debating the Excise Tarriff Amendment (Draught Beer) Bill 2025.

Dr Monique Ryan and Ms Nicolette Boele are both moving amendments to the Bill.

Dr Ryan MP is seeking a permanent freeze on draught beer whereas Ms Boele MP is asking for a freeze on the indexation of packaged product for members of the IBA to align with the freeze on draught.

We thank both MPs for championing the opportunity for Australian’s to be able to afford to choose beer made by an Australian brewery and for pushing for change in a taxation regime that should be nudging consumers to lower alcohol products.

Its now up to us, as an industry to loudly show our support for these efforts.

And a huge thank you to Ben at Depot Brewing for keeping up the pressure and the advocacy for the IBA and our members.
