Celebrating Indies at the Beer & Brewer Awards

The Beer & Brewer Awards really were a celebration of all the beer, venues and people that make indie beer so great.
The IBA was proud to support the trophy for Brewpub of the year and are thrilled that our members Hawkes Brewing, with their delicious prawn toast, took out the award.
Former IBA Chair, Richard Watkins was acknowledged with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his enduring and outstanding contribution to the brewing industry, and our outgoing CEO Kylie Lethbridge was acknowledged with the People’s choice award.
With Rocky Ridge Brewing Co, Charlotte, and Brad all receiving recognition – WA once again had a strong showing.
On receiving his award Brad said, “To be the life of the party means that I’m able to bring joy to those around me, which is what I enjoy doing.
“There’s a lot of aspects of beer that brings joy to people. Brewing brings joy to the brewers and producing beer gives them something to be proud of. From the sales perspective, you know that you’re bringing little morsels of joy to people’s lives. The punters enjoy drinking alcohol. Across the whole industry – it doesn’t matter who you are, supplier, brewer, sales rep, the guy on the end of the bar – everyone is able to bring some joy to the process.”
Finally, after the success of Grainstock – Stu and the whole team at Voyager Craft Malt deserve a huge congratulations as supplier of the year.
We love our indie family and are so proud of all those that were nominated and awarded and so glad to see the enjoyment had by everyone that attended the evening.
