In addition, his experience in communications as a freelance writer and photographer, and in operations and hospitality means that he has incredibly well rounded experience.
“I am very excited that Jono will be joining me to lead the organisation through this period of change and development. . I am excited by the new ideas and industry experience that he brings as it will add value to our aims and objectives to build the movement for independent brewing,” says Sabrina Kunz.
Many of you may already know Jono from his writing with the Crafty Pint, as the Head of Sales for Eagle Bay Brewing Co or from his experience as an Assistant Brewer at Gage Roads.
Jono was appointed after a nationwide search which delivered a strong pool of experienced and enthusiastic talent.
“I joined Sabrina in the hiring of this role, and it was rewarding to see the level of talent across our industry and commitment to supporting independent brewing.
Transition is always challenging, and these were big shoes to fill, but on behalf of the Board, we are looking forward to consolidating the new team that will be delivering on a new strategy and leading the new paradigm for the only industry association working for Australian owned breweries each and every day”, says Tom Champion, IBA Deputy Chair.
Jono rounds out the team with Chrissie Georgie having joined us in the role of Membership Administrator in early September. Chrissie has over two decades experience in hospitality and member services and in the short time she has been with the IBA we have already seen her commitment to detail and the proactive way she supports our members.
Jono will be commencing his role on 29 October 2025, and looks forward to seeing our members at the Bintani Trade Day in Perth wearing his new IBA hat.
“As someone who has been in and around the beer industry for more then a decade, I’m incredibly excited to be joining the IBA where I can continue to champion Australia’s independent brewers and immerse myself even further in this wonderful industry, engaging a diverse cohort of hardworking and passionate members across the country,” says Jono Outred.
