A visit to Ryefield for Dine in the Bines

The IBA team are spread across 3 states and spend a lot of time behind the desk so Sabrina & Kylie decided to spend their Australia Day long weekend in NSW attending a gorgeous event and learning about all the important things going on for one of our small hops producers. Our Em had family over from the UK so couldn’t make it. You can imagine how disappointed she was!

Sabrina flew to Merimbula from Brisbane and Kylie drove from Victoria (she was NOT getting on a tiny plane!) so it was an epic adventure but the photos show how much fun they had. And we ‘think’ we might have eaten our weight in oysters while we were there!

We had a great time catching up with the crew at Ryefield Hops and spent the evening with IBA members Freshwater Brewing Co. and Reub Goldberg Brewing Machine. You’ll see from the pics, how beautiful the long table in the bines was and my goodness, the beers and the food were amazing.

Thanks to Karen & Jade from Ryefield Hops we learnt all about their regenerative farming practices and their plans for expansion. We even learnt that hops rattle when you shake them – what an amazing little plant they are! Now servicing over 40 indie brewers, its only upward from here for Ryefield.

Do yourselves a favour and pop this event in your diary for January next year, you won’t regret it.

These little jaunts every now and again really help us keep energised – reaffirming who we are supporting and working hard for each day. And when you participate in such high quality beer and food experiences – we know were on the right path.
