Keg theft has long been a challenge in the Australian industry – with a direct financial cost for breweries affected. In 2021, the West Australian Brewers Association launched a campaign targeting keg theft and its impact on local breweries.

Earlier this year we saw a spike in keg thefts across Victoria.

Konvoy has been a key partner to industry and the Independent Brewers Association in many different ways including supporting events and providing expertise to key projects. But this year they led the charge on tackling keg theft – working directly with the police in Victoria and other stakeholders to raise awareness of the issue and to find the offenders.

In this weeks’ Drinks Adventures Podcast, you can hear from Konvoy CEO about how Konvoy’s technology that tracked the missing kegs to a handful of scrapyards, giving police the evidence they needed to bring the offenders to justice. As a result, Konvoy has been able to reduce the incidence of missing kegs in its fleet to less than one per cent.

In a challenging economic environment, having key supply-chain partners’ committed to using innovation and determination to tackle a significant problem for industry is something we should all celebrate.
