Excise reform is on the table!

You’ve told us that you want us to address the excise regime.

We have been doing everything we can behind the scenes and publicly, including working on our next advocacy platform in the lead up to a 2025 federal election. Now we need the power of the collective to help us seize an opportunity that is taking place on Monday 12 August as a result of a Private Member’s Business motion being presented by Pat Conaghan MP – Federal Member for Cowper.

We’ve sent out emails to all the members that we think can help. Some members won’t have an email – that’s because we are being very strategic about the messaging – so you will just have to trust us at this point! If you don’t have an email from us – you don’t have to do anything – other than maybe tune in to the ABC on Monday…

This is a critical opportunity to have a national debate on the issues associated with a regime that was put in place by Paul Keating and which has not been fit for purpose for some time.

What we are talking about is not a silver bullet that is going to turn back the clock on the most recent rise but the possibilities from it even being on the table is something to shout about.

What we need our Members to do:

  1. Check your inbox – remember, don’t worry if you don’t have one.
  2. Send the email that we’ve provided you – to the person we’ve asked you to send it to today or tomorrow!
  3. If you can, follow the letter up with a phone call.
  4. Let us know you’ve made contact and any feedback you receive.

Any questions – get in touch with us – Sabrina.Kunz@iba.org.au or Kylie.Lethbridge@iba.org.au

We will provide an update for everyone next week on how it all went down. Fingers crossed.
