There’s an Olympic sized difference

26 July 2024

Overnight we saw the opening of the Paris Olympics, and with the swimming events well underway we thought we’d use this as an opportunity to talk about just how different small brewers are to the foreign owned duopoly that controls the Australian beer market.

Did you know that the majority of independent brewers make enough beer each year to fill around 0.04 of an Olympic sized swimming pool, whereas the multinational brewers make around 209 and 317 Olympic swimming pools each year?

With every additional excise hike, and regulation requirement the Federal Government demonstrate that they don’t understand (or care) that independent brewers are not anywhere close to the same as the multi-national duopoly. So as you are watching the Olympics and are cheering for the Australians team – remember your community brewery and #askforindebeer
